Desiccant Rotors and Cassettes

"DRY-SAVE" desiccant dehumidifier cassette

  • Low dew points down to -112°F;

  • Airflow 50 CFM to 80,000 CFM;

  • Over 90% of original capacity after 10 years of service.

Seibu Giken developed the first in the world activated silica-gel honeycomb rotor and commercialized it in 1984 for use in desiccant dehumidifiers. After more than 30 years Seibu Giken remains a world leader in desiccant dehumidification technologies and continues to be the leading supplier of desiccant dehumidifier cassettes and rotors worldwide.

Unlike conventional refrigeration-based dehumidification systems, the desiccant dehumidifiers developed by Seibu Giken can dehumidify air at temperatures below 10°C (14°F).

Basic Work Principle of Desiccant type Dehumidifier

The desiccant rotor is divided into a process and reactivation zones by the casing structure and heat resistant sealing. The rotor is very slowly rotates at an optimum speed by a gear motor.

The moist humid air is drawn through the filter to the honeycomb matrix of the rotor by a process fan. When the air is passing through the matrix of the rotor the moisture is adsorbed by the desiccant and dried air is supplied to the room.

Simultaneously, the 'reactivation air', drawn from the counter side through the filter, is heated and passed through the honeycomb matrix in the reactivation zone of the rotor. The desiccant desorbs the moisture into the hot air which then is exhausted outside the space by exhaust/reactivation fan.  The (now dry) desiccant rotates into a process zone and operation cycle repeats again.

Desiccant dehumidifier rotors from SG America

The desiccant rotor is "the heart" of a desiccant dehumidifier which determines the overall performance of the unit. Seibu Giken with over 40 years of research and development experience supplies the most reliable highest quality desiccant dehumidifier rotors for a variety of the most demanding applications.

  • Up to 90% of the original dehumidifying capacity after 10 year of service.

  • Requires low reactivation energy per pound of moisture removal.

  • Developed for AHU with low waste-heat.

  • Reactivation temperature below 80°C (176°F).

  • Specifically designed for low energy consumption.

  • Advanced matrix design to provide 20% to 30% lower pressure loss than competitive products.

  • Synthesized Zeolite with high heat resistance.

  • Reactivation temperature up to 220°C (428°F).

  • Used for low dew point applications as well as  for the hot air with high VOCs content.

  • Dew point temperature achieved with a single rotor: down to -80°C (-112°F).
